The Williamson Lions Varsity Boys Cross Country team finished it's 2010 season on November 13th. After 10 years of not having a team, first year coach and teacher at Williamson High School Jamie Lugo has reestablished the program. The boys finished this year with both Kelvin Leflore & Ikheim Kirksey  qualifying for the 6A State Cross Country Meet in Moulton, Alabama. Both Kelvin & Ikheim made the individual cut's after running their best race times of the year at the Mobile 6A Sectional Meet. Kelvin and Ikheim not only ran their personal best, but Kelvin set a new school record of 19 minutes and 33 seconds for the 3.1 mile race.

Coach Lugo said that "it is very exciting to see the boys run and get faster at each race. This year was the  first time any of the guys had ever competed in cross country." With only two seniors on the team graduating, Coach Lugo feels that the future of the program looks very promising. Lugo also stated that "This program has the potential of being something great for our school while helping many of the students become champions on the field & in life."

Coach Lugo's goals for next year are to have more runners on the boys team qualify for the state meet, establish a girls team, and continue to gain support from the parents as well as the community.

Any person interested in running or helping out should contact Coach Lugo.
